Maybe you are a graduating nursing student or you have been a graduate for a while already but you are finding it hard to get into a job as a nurse. You are already pressured to have a work, especially with thousands of competitors out there. Even outside the country, finding a nursing job has been harder already due to the overflow of practitioners from this profession. How then can you be chosen and hired from the mass of unemployed nurses?

Your resume is an essential part whether you are hireable or not.  Here are some tips from Jobscorner on how you can stand out as a nurse.

Creating a Resume

To be able to know if your resume is acceptable, first you should put yourself in the employee’s shoes. Reading your resume, you can assess if it is up to the standard.

Here are some factors you should consider in making your resume:

  1. Make sure the font is large enough to read and legible.
  2. Use a heavier type of paper for your resume.
  3. Use a different paper color that is slightly off-white.
  4. Make each resume tailor made for the job you are applying for
  5. Include a picture of yourself on the resume.
  6. Don't be afraid to use graphics to make your resume stand out more. Just don't over do it as the graphics are there to help you and not to distract away from the information on the resume.
  7. Choose your references wisely and make sure you contact everyone mentioned in your list of references first.

Therefore, in applying for a job, especially with lots of competitors, you have to make sure that from the basic step of the application, you already give your best.
